In the Middle Ages this place represented the heart of the ancient city of Bologna; in fact in the thirteenth century in this area rose towers whose names belong to the history of Bologna: Guidozagni, Uguzzoni, Prendiparte and Altabella (originally called Azzoguidi Tower). During the restoration of the early twentieth century, under the perfectly preserved wooden porch that we can still admire, appeared some coats of arms, then traced back to the noble family Azzoguidi, who wanted the construction of this building and held the property for centuries. In this same building was located in 1470 the first printing house in Bologna, started by Baldassarre Azzoguidi.
